What furniture do you need to set up your art studio?
Beside space away from the hustle & bustle of the home ... you'll need a quality easel. Which type of easel depends on your taste and your needs. There are several light-weight aluminum easels on the market that not only provide a stable studio fixture but can also be portable for plein air painting. There are also great portable wooden easels for plein air painting - which often include a paint box for your supplies. If you're looking for strictly a studio easel, you might want to go up a notch to a quality wooden easel. These are solid, sturdy pieces that have a greater capacity to accommodate larger canvases.
Next, a tabouret (mobile storage cabinet) is great to store your accessories in - brushes, paints, papers, charcoals, smaller canvases ... and a plethora of other items. A mobile storage cabinet is great since it will allow you to move it close when needed and roll it out of the way when you're done for the day.
A painter's chair, such as the synchro-tilt painter's chair, is a great accessory for studio painting, especially if you plan to paint for many hours. And if you plan on painting outdoors, a tripod-style chair is easily portable, most can be slung over your shoulder or attached to your plein air easel. If you'll be spending a lot of time at your studio drawing drafting table, you might consider an ergonomic drafting-height chair.
A drawing drafting table is an excellent addition to your art studio, for all those hours of sketching out designs and finalizing art in preparation for painting. There are MANY drawing drafting tables available, the best are those that have an adjustable surface to keep your posture ergonomically correct. Some tables have accessory trays on the side or even drawers below the top for extra storage. Analyze your needs and shop around.
A quality light is an absolute necessity in your art studio. Ott Lights provide an amazing natural light, so your artwork won't have any unintentional distortion of color due to fluorescent or incandescent lights. Nothing beats natural lighting!
With time dedicated to an effective layout, your art studio will be fully furnished and ready to go! |
